The long-simmering Tupac Shakur bio-pic is back in gear, with an official casting call for the film issued Monday. But John Singleton, whose credits include 2 Fast 2 Furious and who has been attached to the project since 2014, is no longer its director.
“There are major creative differences,” an insider explained. “[Film company] Morgan Creek can make a sub-par Tupac movie and move on. If John Singleton makes a bad Tupac movie? It’s something he’d have to live with for the rest of his life.”
Carl Franklin will take over from Singleton. The writer, director and actor has a long list of movie and television credits, including One False Move, Devil in a Blue Dress, House of Cards and Homeland. (The Wrap)
Say What:
Singleton might be saying this could be whack and I don't want to be apart of it.
Maybe he has a different vision of 'Pac than the producers.
Singleton is totally the man for the job -- after all, he actually directed Tupac in the movie Poetic Justice.
