TRACY MORGAN: Gives First Interview Since Crash

Comedian Tracy Morgan appeared on the Today show this morning for his first interview since the June, 2014 car crash in New Jersey that left him critically injured and killed his friend, fellow comedian James McNair.

Morgan, who was joined by his attorney Benedict P. Morelli, fought through tears as he recalled the deadly crash and his painful year of recovery. He says he has no recollection of the accident and only remembers things since coming out of his coma two weeks later. Morgan last week reached an undisclosed settlement with Walmart, whose truck driver caused the fatal crash, and says, "The case is settled, but the pain is always going to be there." He adds, "Bones heal, but the loss of my friend will never heal. We've known each other a long time."

As for his ongoing recovery, Morgan -- who walks with a cane and still deals with the affects of brain trauma -- says he has good days and bad days and still forgets things. When asked about his future and a possible return to performing, Morgan says he wants to but he's not going to think about that until he's completely healed. He says, "I love comedy, I never stopped loving her, but right now my goal is to heal and get better because I'm not 100% yet. And when I'm there, you'll know it. I'll get back to making you laugh."
