1. Canada. Obviously it's a lot like the U.S., but it's also not the cheapest option.

2. New Zealand. Everyone speaks English, and the exchange rate is good.

3. Sweden. 90% of people speak English, but it's also really cold in the winter.

4. Germany. About 70% of people speak English, including most young people.

5. Costa Rica. You need to know Spanish, but the cost of living is like Boise, Idaho.

6. Thailand. A really nice apartment in Bangkok only costs about $500 a month.

7. France. The norm there is 90-minute lunch breaks, and wine with every meal.
