"Joint Chiefs Of Staff Visits
Fort
Campbell"

* FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. - Soldiers at Fort Campbell will hear from the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff on the Afghanistan troop buildup Monday.
Navy Admiral Mike Mullen will talk about the troop additions and engage junior leadership from units slated to deploy. President Barack Obama announced he would send 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan to train the country's security forces. Some units at Fort Campbell could be part of the rollout, which Mullen and members of the Obama administration have been defending since it was revealed last week. Three brigades are already scheduled for deployment, but a number of other units have reportedly been waiting to hear their next assignment.
President Obama said the eventual goal is to withdraw the additional troops by July of 2011.

"Santa Visits
Nashville"

* NASHVILLE, Tenn.- For the first time, Santa Claus paid a visit to the Hermitage Hotel. Santa Claus was the guest of honor of course. Kids of all ages got the chance to sit down with Mr. Claus over a hot cup of tea and treats. "Oh, I'm just grateful to be here in Nashville today with the people at the Hermitage Hotel, and I'm glad to be with all the children in Nashville. Every time I come, they never let me down. They always make the best cookies in
Nashville, and the best hot chocolate, and I'm so grateful," said Santa Claus. Anyone who didn't make it out to see Santa this Sunday will have two additional opportunities. He'll be back at the hotel over the next two Sundays. Tickets for adults are $35.00, and tickets for children are $15.00.

"Is Islam a threat to America?"

~ Nashville activists warn churchgoers of violent threats to America; Muslims call campaign unfair. *A belief that Muslims are out to destroy the American way of life is gaining a foothold in some Christian and Jewish circles in Nashville. The movement spreads its message through films, books and the Internet. Its sentiment: Islam is an evil religion rooted in hatred and nurtured by violence. Some churches have gotten involved, hosting viewings of movies that alert Jews and Christians of the perceived dangers worldwide. One film, produced by a local filmmaker, warns that a second Holocaust is imminent if Americans do not stand united politically with Israel. Muslims say the messages are an unfair characterization of their beliefs that began with the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, and are perpetuated whenever someone professing to be a Muslim commits an act of violence, such as the recent shooting deaths at the Fort Hood Army post in Texas. "We have become the bogeyman of the world," said Amir Arain, spokesman for the Islamic Center of
Nashville, the city's oldest mosque, founded in 1979. "Fringe fundamentalists they are talking about, that they think defines Islam, is only 1 to 2 percent, and we do agree that there is a problem. It's a very small quantity or small group of the whole Muslim ummah, or nation, that has somehow hijacked our faith.'' In a recent survey, the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life found that 52 percent of those polled admit they are extremely concerned about Islamic extremism.

" Pearl Harbor mini-submarine mystery solved?"

*Researchers think they have found the remains of a Japanese mini-submarine that probably fired on U.S. battleships on Dec. 7, 1941.

The remains of a Japanese mini-submarine that participated in the Dec. 7, 1941, attack on Pearl Harbor have been discovered, researchers are to report today, offering strong evidence that the sub fired its torpedoes at Battleship Row.That could settle a long-standing argument among historians.

Five mini-subs were to participate in the strike, but four were scuttled, destroyed or run aground without being a factor in the attack. The fate of the fifth has remained a mystery. But a variety of new evidence suggests that the fifth fired its two 800-pound torpedoes, most likely at the battleships West Virginia and Oklahoma, capsizing the latter. A day later, researchers think, the mini-sub's crew scuttled it in nearby West Loch.

The loch was also the site of a 1944 disaster in which six tank landing ships preparing for the secret invasion of Saipan were destroyed in an ammunition explosion that killed 200 sailors and wounded hundreds more.

When the Navy scooped up the remains of the so-called LSTs and dumped them outside the harbor to protect the secrecy of the invasion, it apparently also dumped the mini-sub's remains, which were mingled with the damaged U.S. ships.

"Can Obama Get it All Done? Major Issues Dominate President's Agenda"

*As President Obama takes on the three critical issues of health care, jobs and Afghanistan, his critics say the commander-in-chief needs to do a better job explaining his message to the public.Bill O'Reilly, host of Fox News' "The O'Reilly Factor" and author of "A Bold Fresh Piece of Humanity," gave the president a D on his handling of health care. "We need health care -- I think everybody understands that America is chaotic now -- but you can't be putting out a 2,000 page bill, which the Senate did, and President Obama has not been able to explain it," O'Reilly, who has been a leading critic of Democrats' health care efforts, told "Good Morning America's" Robin Roberts today, adding that he doesn't understand any of it.

Obama made a rare appearance on Capitol Hill this weekend to rally Democrats on both the health care bill and jobs. In the 40-minute closed-door meeting, sources say he told lawmakers, "You need to finish the job. The most costly outcome for everyone would be from a failure to finish."

Celeb News:

"BRAD AND ANGIE'S BIG FIGHT A FALSE ALARM"

*It turns out that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's "worst fight ever" was actually a false alarm. After police arrived at the couple's L-A mansion a few days before Thanksgiving, Star magazine reported that the authorities showed up because Brad and Angie were having a knock-down, drag-out fight. But now L-A-P-D Sergeant Kyle Kirkman tells Us magazine that a burglary alarm sounded at the Jolie-Pitt residence and "two officers arrived and confirmed that the alarm system was tripped accidentally, and were back on the road within 15 minutes."

"MILEY SPORTS TATTOO"

Healthy Matters:

"Stimulus funds lung cancer research"

*Federal stimulus money will help pay for a two-year research study of African-Americans diagnosed with lung cancer.

David Carbone, professor of medicine, cell and developmental biology and cancer biology at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, has been awarded nearly $1 million to study genetic variations among minorities with non-small cell lung cancer.

An additional grant of more than $700,000 will be used by Carbone and Pierre Massion, associate professor of medicine and cancer biology, to measure proteins in the blood of cancer patients in hopes of eventually developing a simple blood test for lung cancer.

"We know that African-Americans have a significantly greater risk of developing lung cancer than whites, Hispanics or Japanese-Americans," said Carbone. "Lung cancer mortality rates also are higher for African-American males than any other ethnic group. We are searching for genetic mutations that may explain higher rates of disease as well as differences in how some groups of patients respond to treatment."

Among Carbone's colleagues on the study are Velmalia Matthews-Smith and Meharry researchers Steven Wolff, and Billy Ray Ballard.

Good News:
"U.S. 2008 Greenhouse Gas Emission Fall 2.2%"
*Man-made U.S. greenhouse gas emissions fell last year as record oil prices and a weak economy reduced demand for fossil fuels, the Energy Information Administration said on Thursday.
Output of the gases scientists blame for warming the planet fell 2.2 percent in 2008 from the prior year to 7,053 million tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) equivalent, the EIA said. Since 1990, U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, which include carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide, have increased at an average annual rate of 0.7 percent, the agency said. Emissions of energy-related carbon dioxide decreased by 2.9 percent in 2008, having risen at an average annual rate of 1.0 percent per year from 1990 to 2007.

Mess of the Day:

"Wedding Beat Down"

*Check out this video from Peru of a man who tried to marry a new bride without telling his old one. When his wife's sister and aunt found out, they showed up at the wedding and handed out a beat down.

Thought for the day:

"Staying focused"

*To keep yourself focused, keep yourself moving. To keep yourself focused, keep taking on meaningful challenges.

Watch yourself as you make a difference in the world. Experience firsthand that your actions have consequences, and that will motivate you to take more focused action. Continue reminding yourself of the reasons why you have chosen to do what you do. Make sure your daily tasks are aligned with the goals you've set for yourself. Keep the objective in sight. When you can clearly see where you are going, you'll naturally keep working your way there.

You have the power to achieve what you choose to achieve. Focus each moment and each action on your dream, and the dream will surely and steadily become real. -- Ralph Marston

Islam is not a threat to America. Malcolm, Muhammad, Kareem, etc... Islam has been open and apart of American society for generations. Islam is not the problem, radical extremism is the problem. For example radical Christians used the religious words of the Bible to enslave Africans and to take over lands through the inquisition. People can take ANY religious ideology and pervert it to their own specific agenda.

**I agree finances are very important in relationships and should be talked about in a serious relationship...especially when finances are about to become interconnected.
Romance without finance, has no chance.

Greenhouse and Global Warming will not become reality until it's way too late...it's kind of like trying to put toothpaste back in the tube...no one is going to sacrifice their conveniences to save the planet. what for?
