Crews were called to the Mission at Bellevue Ridge apartments off Old Hickory Boulevard around 4:30 a.m. Monday. It took firefighters nearly an hour-and-a-half to get the fire under control. NewsChannel 5 received pictures that showed flames shooting through the roof. Two apartment units in the building are a total loss. Three more buildings suffered heavy damage. The Nashville American Red Cross was on the scene helping the 33 people displaced due to the fire. Seven of those 33 people are kids. The apartment complex put those 33 people in additional units. Thankfully, no one was injured.

"Secret Service Investigates Local College Students"

The suspects go to Martin Methodist College, and Pulaski Police had been investigating them for quite some time before the Secret Service became involved.

"Residents Oppose WIC Clinic In Hickory Hollow Mall"

*ANTIOCH, Tenn.- Residents will have a final say about a proposed health clinic for low income families in Hickory Hollow Mall. The clinic would be part of the Woman, Infants and Children program. WIC provides federal grants to states to care for low-income pregnant women, young mothers and to infants and children up to age of five who are found to be at nutritional risk. There are some members of the Antioch community who don't want this type of clinic to be located inside Hickory Hollow Mall. Protestors will come together to show their opposition to the Metro Health Department opening a WIC clinic at a town hall meeting Monday night. The town hall meeting has been scheduled for 6 p.m. at Apollo Middle School, located at 631 Richards Rd. in Antioch. The issue will be up for vote at Tuesday night's Metro council meeting.

"Copenhagen Talks Enter Final Phase"

*Climate change groups have criticised Danish police for using heavy-handed tactics after they detained 968 people at a rally near the Copenhagen summit.
Mel Evans from Climate Justice Action told the BBC protesters were held for hours in freezing conditions without medical attention, water or toilets.
Police say almost all of those detained on Saturday have now been released.
But another march pressing for action on global warming near the harbour on Sunday saw dozens more people arrested.
Riot police stopped the unauthorised demonstration outside the Oesterport station and carried out security checks on participants.
Police spokesman Flemming Steen Munch told the Associated Press that bolt-cutters and gas masks had been found inside a lorry at the front of the march, and that 200 activists had been detained.

"Lieberman May Torpedo Health Care Reform"

*Sens. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.), Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) and Jay Rockefeller (DW.V.) spoke with Bob Schieffer about the momentum building for health reform in the Senate, even though apprehension exists over abortion language.

"OPRAH & THE OBAMAS: Preparing for Christmas at the White House"

*Oprah Winfrey sat with President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama as they prepared for the holiday season on last night's Christmas at the White House: An Oprah Primetime Special. Michelle gave Oprah a tour of the home, which features thousands of feet of trimming, a 390-pound gingerbread house and a tree adorned with ornaments sent from people across the country. In addition to sharing their holiday plans, the president turned attention to the pressing issues the country is facing, like unemployment and the war in Afghanistan. He said that sending an additional 30-thousand troops to the nation was an "agonizing" decision, but that his goal was "not to occupy a country but to stabilize" it. He also acknowledged his drop in the polls and the millions hurting from unemployment, saying, "People are hurting out there." However, he noted that among his administration's accomplishments are an improved economy and the passing of the "biggest piece of legislature since Social Security" with regards to the long debated health-care reform plan. The Obamas also discussed their marriage, family life with daughters Mailia and Sasha, and missing their anonymity.

Celeb News:

"EXTREME MAKEOVER: Mary J. Blige Pitches In"

*Mary J. Blige helped build a home on last night's emotional two-hour episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition... Ty Pennington and the team went to Erie, Pennsylvania, where wheelchair-bound Clara Ward has opened up her run-down home to local children in need. The Ward family went to Walt Disney World. An army of 25-hundred volunteers descended to build a dream home and do mini-makeovers all over the neighborhood. Mary J. Blige pitched in on an elaborate chandelier made out of silverware that symbolizes Clara's work to feed children. Mary also helped out on a quilt for Clara's room. It was a tearful return. Blige was the biggest blubberer as Clara arrived at her new handicapped-friendly home. The Wards were also wowed to learn that C-V-S had stocked the house with food and kid's clothing, and pledged 25-thousand dollars to keep the goods coming. The gang also got scholarships from the local college.

"Tiger Putting Down the Putter"

*TIGER TAKING BREAK FROM GOLF; ADMITS TO INFIDELITY Busy with damage control, Tiger Woods says he's going to "take an indefinite break from professional golf." In his second statement since that infamous car crash, Tiger admits for first time that he's been unfaithful. "I am deeply aware of the disappointment and hurt that my infidelity has caused to so many people, most of all my wife and children. I want to say again to everyone that I am profoundly sorry and that I ask forgiveness. It may not be possible to repair the damage I've done, but I want to do my best to try." Tiger says he'll focus "on being a better husband, father, and person" -- and, of course, not sleeping with so many women. Tiger lost two endorsement deals over the weekend. First, was Gillete -- who said they're phasing the philandering golf pro out of its ads. ThenAccenture, global management services company, dumped Tiger, saying he "is no longer the right representative for its advertising." But Nike is standing by its ad man. A Nike rep tells T-M-Z, "Tiger has been part of Nike for more than a decade. He is the best golfer in the world and one of the greatest athletes of his era. We look forward to his return to golf. He and his family have Nike's full support." We won't be seeing Tiger's putter after all. Playgirl says they have decided not to publish those alleged nude photos of the philandering golfer. The magazine's Daniel Nardicio says the pics, reportedly taken by camera phone by Tiger himself, "were impossible to one 100-percent verify, hence the unwillingness to go there." Tiger's wife Elin reportedly bought a six-bedroom home in Sweden on December 1st. The two-point-two-million-dollar residence is on a small island near Stockholm and is only accessible by boat. View co-host Joy Behar has apologized for calling Mistress Number-One, Rachel Uchitel, a "hooker" on the A-B-C talk show. The Florida Department of Children and Families visited Tiger Woods' home near Windermere on Saturday. Details of the visit are being kept secret, says a spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

"LINDSAY SAVES CHILDREN IN INDIA"

*"Is Lindsay Lohan turning Angelina Jolie on us?" The troubled party girl, who just returned from filming a B-B-C documentary on child trafficking India, is on a mission to change her image. On Twitter, she claimed to have saved more than 40 children saved in one day. She later tweeted, "Focusing on celebrities and lies is so disconcerting, when we can be changing the world one child at a time. Hope everyone can see that." On her goodwill tour of India, Linds also visited with sick children and gave them toys.

"MICHELLE DUGGAR HAS 19th KID PREMATURELY"

*Michelle Duggar's 19th child, Josie Brooklyn, was born prematurely Thursday. The baby, which weighed only one-pound, six-ounces, was delivered via emergency C-section, because Michelle developed pre-eclampsia, a rare condition during pregnancy that causes high blood pressure. The baby is in stable condition at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences's neo-natal intensive care unit. Michelle was said to be recovering well from her surgery. Michelle and her large family star in T-L-C's 18 Kids and Counting.

TODAY'S BLACK HISTORY MOMENT:

"Death of a Baseball Pioneer" On December 14th, 1980, baseball pioneer Elston Howard died. The catcher, left fielder and coach in the Negro Leagues and Major League Baseball played most of his career for the New York Yankees, where he was the first African-American player on the roster. In 1963, he was named the American League's Most Valuable Player, becoming the first black man to receive the honor. Diagnosed with myocarditis -- a rare heart disease which causes rapid heart failure -- he died at age 51. Healthy Matters: "Fatty Food Can Weaken The Immune System" *We're in the middle of Christmas party season, which means we're probably in the middle of eating a lot of fatty food that's not very good for us. But, how bad could this food really be? According to a new study, fatty food actually weakens the immune system, which, of course, causes us to get sick more often. And now is definitely not the time to get sick.~UPI

Good News:

"MTSU's underwater treadmill therapy may help paralyzed to walk"

*As miracles go, it's not quite walking on water. But for paralyzed volunteers taking part in a Middle Tennessee State University study, walking in water is almost as amazing. For the past eight weeks, university researchers have placed people with crippling spinal cord injuries on underwater treadmills with impressive results. "I've been able to lift my right leg," said Janette Rodgers, a 52-year-old grandmother from Murfreesboro whose neck was crushed in a car accident in 2007. After four weeks in the study, "I'm walking faster. I used to walk like I was somebody in their 80s." Three times a week, volunteer James Harris wheels his chair up to a water-filled tank fitted with an underwater treadmill and maneuvers inside. As his feet touch bottom, an underwater treadmill kicks into gear and suddenly Harris who hasn't been able to will his feet to move since an accident that severed his spine is walking. "In a way, it's a small miracle," said Harris, a 56-year-old engineer from Hendersonville who was paralyzed from the waist down by the crash of the small plane he was piloting in July 2005. "You can't feel your feet, so it still feels like it's not really you walking," said Harris, breathing hard and balancing himself against walls of the tank as his legs churned away below the surface. But he really is walking. The water in the tank helps to support his weight, but the rest is all the work of Harris and his nervous system, working in ways that amaze even the scientist running the experiment. "They're walking faster, their endurance is better, their aerobic fitness is up, it's just a better quality of life," said researcher Sandy Stevens, who is working toward her doctorate in human performance at MTSU. To the best of her knowledge, it's the only study of its kind in the country.

"GUYS DON'T LOVE LADIES WITH LONG LEGS"

*According to a new study from the University of Westminster in England, men don't like women with long legs. Instead, they prefer the average one-to-one leg-to-body ratio. The farther away from that ratio women get, the less desirable men find them. Tall women are seen by men as abnormal -- while short women are seen as unhealthy. -----Questions??: Do you have a wife or a girlfriend with abnormal body proportions? Does she have a huge chest? Crazy long hair? Does she get a ton of attention about this body part? Do you like that she gets all this attention? Is there something that most guys like in women that you just don't groove on? Do you dislike skinny women -- and prefer they have a little meat on their bones? Do you prefer a pasty skinned lady to a bronzed goddess?

That's an amazing procedure/experiment that they have going on at MTSU. I'm a 2 time alum from MT so I know what great programs and professors they have. I hope that they gain national attention for their efforts.

Sara Stokes seems like a young, more curvaceous, Latoya Jackson. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

If Lindsey is Genuine then Kudos to her, but if she's using this as some sort of publicity stunt then she is a really sad individual and the people who are around her allowing/prompting her to do it are even sadder.

I love women of ALL SHAPES, SIZES, AND COLORS!! I'm an equal opportunity lover. I do not discriminate. I love everything about women. Their essence, hair, smell, walk, eyes, skin, smile,..... I love women like Prince loves women. I just crave being around them. That's why my girlfriend gets treated like a queen. I pour all that into her. That survey from the university of Westminster just didn't have the right guys participating. If you ever have a survey like that taking place in the US CALL ME, I'll make sure to participate the right way! No love, like Q Dawg love! Roo...

Joe Lieberman's a joke and a spotlight whore. He just does things to get attention. IMO

The WIC operation in the Hickory Hollow Mall will be the final nail in the coffin for that mall and that area. It's a good idea (see, Vanderbilt @ 100 Oaks Mall) if done correctly and could help many people but this will be a government run program that has the potential of becoming disastrous. We'll see.
