Whitney Houston's tour Down Under looks to be in freefall. After a shaky opening night in Brisbane earlier in the week, Whitney turned in another sub-par performance in Sydney yesterday. A reviewer for Sydney's Daily Telegraph writes, "Her acoustic set of old favorites unfortunately could not hide the very obvious problems with her voice -- the strain and those coughs that punctuated the Brisbane show were back. By the time she got to the gospel section of the show, a steady stream of disappointed, saddened and angry fans started streaming out the doors."
After the opening-night problems, promoter Andrew McManus defended her, saying, "[She] is now up on stage, warts and all, presenting herself like an open book for the world to see -- and they want to ridicule Whitney?"
Whitney's next show is Saturday in Pokolbin, about two hours north of Sydney.
