The NYPD tried to break Ramsey Orta, using a wide range of tactics. One of the most disturbing ones was the clear use of snitches, rats, and provocateurs. Ramsey was set up on a weapons charge, plain and simple.

He was never in possession of a gun, and the person who was, was clearly working with the police to get a charge on Orta that would silence him for good.

When we pulled Ramsey into WeCopwatch a year ago we began to see first hand the type of treatment Ramsey had been experiencing. Covert and overt surveillance, as well as coordinated online attacks which were carried out to discredit Ramsey, separate him from his support network, and put his life in danger, specifically once he was behind bars.

Even our own group experienced infiltration attempts, increased surveillance, and failed attempts to destroy our organization for nothing more than standing up for this brother.

Ramsey was targeted because of his courage, but his prison sentence is not a sign of guilt.
