After several false starts in the the homicide trial of Suge Knight, both the defense and prosecution were quite busy Monday as they jockeyed for position following the release of video, showing Knight running over both Terry Carter and actor Cle 'Bone' Sloan.
Carter, Suge's former friend who he fatally ran over, had a gun on him when the altercation went down. Suge's new lawyer says that after Carter died, his relatives called the L.A. County Sheriff to see if the weapon was recovered, which he typically kept in his car. Suge is hoping the existence of the firearm will help prove that an ambush was in place and that Knight was merely acting in self defense.
Suge's camp only sees upside to the video, which they say prove Suge had no other choice but to roll over the men to escape. Suge believes if he didn't flee when he did, he'd be trapped and attacked by an angry mob of onlookers. He hopes to use the video in a bail hearing to he can be released from prison pending the conclusion of his trial.
Carter's attorney looks at the video differently, claiming it proves Suge had other options beyond deliberately running down his client.
