The City of Nashville mourns the loss of it's Field General, Father, Friend, and all around good guy, STEVE MCNAIR.

Killed today by a gunshot wound to the head.

Information is flurrying about the murder, but it appears to be a murder-suicide at the hands of a female acquaintance according to police sources.

I will hit you with the details as things develop...

Damn...My heart is heavy for his family and our great city~~~

Less not forget the family and friends of his friend. My prayers go out to both of their families and friends. Whatever discord there was, there is always a better way to handle the situation.

Steve was a class act; this whole mess should put us all on notice about how fragile life can be and about decisions that we make that can forever change the course of the lives of many people in an instant. My heart aches for the families of both of these individuals.

Let's be RESPECTFUL to his family and children by not slandering him. Some of his kids are old enough to access our comments...please people.

This is really devastating. I have looked at every peice of footage about this incident. I cannot wrap my head around it!

Let us not judge or come to conclusions about what was or wasn't going on. We do not (and probably will never) have all the facts. No matter what happened he did not deserve to be shot dead! a young life taken, a father, a son, a friend, etc. Just sad.

I love Steve McNair because through it all he still held his head up and did the best he could do. He was booed by the TN fans when he first came here; he faced a lot of racist people here in the first years; he played hard (even when hurt); he was respected by his teammates and everyone he came across. I even volunteered to work in the hot blazing sun at his Katrina Collection drive. All because he was a good person. WE ALL FALL SHORT...SO DO NOT JUDGE. This is a sad day.
