Serena Williams: The New Superwoman

For those still unconvinced that Serena Williams is a superhero, here's the proof.

In a Wednesday FB post, the tennis star shared the empowering – and badass – tale of how she took down an alleged thief who she says tried to steal her phone while she was dining at a Chinese restaurant Tuesday night.

On Thursday, ABC News published video footage of the encounter. The grainy clip shows a man is hovering near Williams' table at the restaurant before swiping her phone off chair next to her.

Williams is seen getting up from the table and weaving her way out of the restaurant in pursuit of the man.

"He began to run but I was too fast. (Those sprints came in handy) I was upon him in a flash!" she wrote in the post.

And upon him she was.

The video then shows Williams approaching the man and the two look to exchange words. The man is seen inching toward Williams nervously before handing her the phone.

"In the most menacing yet calm no nonsense voice I could muster I kindly asked him if he 'accidentally' took the wrong phone," the 21-time Grand Slam winner wrote of the brief conversation.

"Eventually he said 'Gosh you know what I did! It was so confusing in there. I must have grabbed the wrong phone.' "

Although the video featured none of the chair-leaping Williams mentioned in her story, her "superhero" qualities ("I've got the speed the jumps, the power, the body, the seduction, the sex appeal, the strength, the leadership …) made for one inspiring encounter.

Ending the post, Williams gave some words of wisdom to women everywhere.

"Just because you are a lady don't be afraid to step up to any challenge and not be a victim but a hero," she wrote.
