BIG BOI: No-Show or Raincheck?

A Georgia promoter has accused Big Boi of running off with $40,000 with a half-hearted promise to “come back soon.”

James Griffin claims he offered the OutKast rapper $80,000 to headline his Freaknik festival in Sylvania, Georgia -- even wiring half of the fee to his manager. About three weeks before the big show, Big Boi’s manager allegedly threatened his client might not show up if more big-name artists weren’t added to the bill.

The promoter reportedly added Dae Dae to help keep Big happy, but the headliner nonetheless failed to appear.

Big Boi’s team maintains it told the promoter he would need to change the date and that the rapper will still perform at a later date. Meanwhile, Griffin says he

doesn’t want a do-over -- just to recoup the $40,000 he already paid out. (TMZ)

RICHARD SIMMONS: Planning to Sue Over Rumors

Richard Simmons may not want to be seen in public these days, but he may eventually show himself in a courtroom.

The reclusive fitness guru is planning to sue RadarOnline and the National Enquirer for stories they published about him in what he calls "a hurtful campaign of defamations and privacy invasions." The suit, which his lawyers are expected to file in court today, will likely cite stories written by these publications which suggested that Simmons hasn't been seen in a few years because he was transitioning into a woman or being held hostage by his housekeeper -- rumors that Simmons himself has denied. ARETHA FRANKLIN, DIONNE WARWICK: Gladys Weighs In on Feud

Gladys Knight has weighed in on the recent resurfacing of a feud between Aretha Franklin and Dionne Warwick that goes back to things that were said regarding Franklin not attending Whitney Houston's funeral five years ago.

Speaking to HipHollywood.com on the red carpet at the recent Daytime Emmy Awards, she said she knows both women well and seemed to side just a shade more with Warwick. She told them, "I know my sister, Dionne. It ain’t nothing to her. Now Ree [Aretha], is a little bit different. It’s just one of those things, everybody got their little knick-knacks going on...Dionne’s gonna tell it like it is and Ree’s gonna be sensitive and cause a whole lot of riff raff.”

*  Do you think Gladys sounds more sympathetic to Dionne, or is she just telling it like it is regarding the two other divas?

* Aretha was upset at being called "Whitney's godmother," which Aretha wasn't, and thought Dionne was trying to embarrass her because she was unable to attend do to a health concern and a contractual obligation.

NICKI MINAJ: Paying Barbies' Tuition

Fans who owe Sallie Mae have a new reason to love Nicki Minaj.

Nicki decided to hook some of her Barbies up by paying tuition for fans with student loan debt. She was in the middle of retweeting messages from fans trying to win a meet-and-greet with Nicki when one follower asked, "Well you wanna pay my tuition?" Nicki replied, "Show me straight A's that I can verify with your school and I'll pay it...Who wants to join that contest? Dead serious. Should I set it up?"

The requests predictably came rolling in. Students with less than perfect grade point averages made their cases, and former students asked for help with loans as well. Room and board, books and other college necessities were considered, with some requests being granted on the spot as Nicki slid into user’s direct messages.

The gifting session ending just before midnight Saturday, with Nicki joking she needed to “see if I have any money left.” She teased that she’ll “do some more in a month or two.” (Twitter)
