Plies will have his license suspended for one year because he refused to take a breathalyzer test when pulled over for an apparent DUI. Since he wasn’t willing to undergo breath, urine or blood testing, Florida law requires his license to be yanked for the next 12 months.
2 Chainz has top shelf tastes. While partying in New Orleans for NBA All-Star Weekend, the Atlanta rapper demanded four bottles of Ace of Spades, three bottles of Dom Perignon and three bottles of Ciroc. The rider also specified that the Dom must feature the glow-in-the-dark label.
Jay Z used a recent concert during All-Star Weekend to put some pressure on Roc Nation signee Jay Electronica. First Jay Elect called Hov to the stage, who laughed and told him, “Ima [mess] you up when we get outside.” After Electronica told the crowd that the Carters purchased a local church, Hov responded by saying, “Let’s put this album out” to loud applause.
LeBron James helped put together an all-star musical reunion during NBA All-Star Weekend.
King James was hosting a party in New Orleans when he managed to bring together Lil Wayne and the Hot Boys on stage. While BG is still incarcerated and Birdman is locked in a legal dispute with Weezy, the rest of the crew was there. After LeBron told the crowd, “I grew up on these boys right here,” New Orleans natives Lil Wayne, Mannie Fresh, Juvenile and Young Turk ran through their catalog -- including Weezy’s solo hit “Go DJ” and the Big Tymers track “Still Fly.”
After the show, Wayne tweeted, “Thanks to every single one of my bros that blessed the stage with me and turned a show to a movie. I love y’all.”
Say What:
Prince songs, recently re-issued by Warner Music, were streamed nearly six million times Sunday and Monday -- the first two days they were available via streaming services other than Tidal, which previously had exclusive streaming rights to the bulk of Prince's catalog.
According to Nielsen Entertainment, his recordings were streamed -- on services such as Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon -- more in two days than in the entire prior year!
Crunching the numbers, on-demand streaming activity for all of Prince's songs was up 47 times (4,719%) on Sunday and Monday compared to the previous five. "Let's Go Crazy" was the most streamed Prince song -- with "Purple Rain" a close second. Streaming activity on Prince's albums rose 55 times (5,578%) for the same two-day period. Purple Rain was the top choice in this category, followed by 1999 and The Hits/The B-Sides. (Minneapolis Star Tribune)
Tory Lanez tweeted, “There is no video of me fighting in the street lol…nice try tho…p.s. that [guy] has zero hands.” Of course, the same can’t be said for that video of Lanez’s jumpshot — which, unfortunately for him, is definitely the real deal.
It’s pretty clear that Safaree Samuels has a type. His new bad is a woman named Star Divine, who she calls herself a West Coast Barbie but many think she’s just a Nicki knock-off. The new couple will be featured on an upcoming season of Love and Hip-Hop: Hollywood.
Members of the Rihanna Navy in Melbourne, Australia reportedly defaced a huge Beyonce mural on the side of a building. Some members of the Bey Hive are now asking RihRih to denounce her fans’ alleged vandalism.
