Betsy DeVos is the new Secretary of Education.

DeVos has just been confirmed by the Senate after Vice President Mike Pence broke a 50-50 tie vote. It's the first time a Vice President has ever had to break a tie vote in a Cabinet confirmation.

DeVos came under fire after an underwhelming confirmation hearing in which she was unable to answer a question about educational theory and suggested that guns should be OK in schools because of the threat of a grizzly bear attack. (USA Today)
