RAVEN-SYMONE: Backlash Over Harriet Tubman Comments

Raven-Symone’s mouth has gotten her in trouble again. On Thursday’s episode of The View, Symone disagreed with the idea of putting Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill, saying that she'd prefer if a more “progressive” figure, like Rosa Parks to receive the honor.

She explained her views, stating, “I would have chosen someone that is closer to the progression that we’re doing now. I know you have to understand history so you don’t repeat it, but that doesn’t happen in our world because we still repeat history of hating other cultures over and over again. I would choose a different woman, no offense.”

The actress preemptively defended herself against the inevitable social media backlash, saying "I understand the history, I get it, trust me, I was taught, I'm in that culture" and that she just thinks important to move things forward as a people. (E! Online)

IJS:

Whenever you see the name Raven-Symone trending, just know its because she said something stupid.

She says she understands the history and was taught... this is the same person who thought Africa was a country.

The media knows if they put a mic in front of Raven, she'll say something controversial about race that leads to ratings.

With all the criticism she's been getting, you'd think Raven is being extra careful about what she says.

Raven feels Harriet Tubman is a poor choice because she's tied to our country's past... which is kind of the whole point. Every figure on American money is tied to the country’s past. DUH!

I must check myself commenting on this platform: Many, many news articles brought to the publics attention is not true. Therefore I always try to remember to say: If the story is true. Holograms and technology being so advanced heck Raven could be sitting at the house wide open saying `I never said that'.

Peace

Sadly today the mic is being handed to individuals who need some serious help. Pray our babies get the drift not to utter such views and stop looking up to people who say such madness. Its one thing to be outspoken and make valid points but another to sound......
keeping Raven in our prayers she has gone through alot in her young age.

Peace, love and harmony desired all over the world!
