Raven-Symone’s mouth has gotten her in trouble again. On Thursday’s episode of The View, Symone disagreed with the idea of putting Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill, saying that she'd prefer if a more “progressive” figure, like Rosa Parks to receive the honor.
She explained her views, stating, “I would have chosen someone that is closer to the progression that we’re doing now. I know you have to understand history so you don’t repeat it, but that doesn’t happen in our world because we still repeat history of hating other cultures over and over again. I would choose a different woman, no offense.”
The actress preemptively defended herself against the inevitable social media backlash, saying "I understand the history, I get it, trust me, I was taught, I'm in that culture" and that she just thinks important to move things forward as a people. (E! Online)
IJS:
Whenever you see the name Raven-Symone trending, just know its because she said something stupid.
She says she understands the history and was taught... this is the same person who thought Africa was a country.
The media knows if they put a mic in front of Raven, she'll say something controversial about race that leads to ratings.
With all the criticism she's been getting, you'd think Raven is being extra careful about what she says.
Raven feels Harriet Tubman is a poor choice because she's tied to our country's past... which is kind of the whole point. Every figure on American money is tied to the country’s past. DUH!
