Pentagon Says: Let Gays Serve OPENLY...

The military has spoken. A Pentagon report reveals that letting openly gay and lesbian troops serve in the armed forces would not have a significant impact on the U.S. military, sources told CNN yesterday. In addition, more than two-thirds of service members don't object to gays and lesbians serving openly in the armed forces.

The year-long study concluded that putting an end to "don't ask, don't tell" may have "some limited and isolated disruption to unit cohesion and retention," but those effects wouldn't be widespread or last long.

This news sets the stage for the repeal of "don't ask, don't tell." Defense Department General Counsel Jeh C. Johnson told members of Congress yesterday that he thought the rule could be repealed while the U.S. is at war, sources told CNN. Defense Secretary Robert Gates urged Senate to act quickly and repeal the policy before it's overturned by "judicial fiat."

Kenny Says: Let them serve! Hell...they are ALREADY SERVING! Do your job and everything well be fine in the long run. However, I don't want to pull the "sunshine over your glasses". In non-combat units, everything will go smoothly in a short term sense. In the combat units (Infantry, Tankers, Cav Scouts, Artillery)...not so much. There will be problems. Maybe a death or two. This WILL HAPPEN. But it also happened when blacks were allowed to serve in the Armed Forces. Let's move forward!
