Only Half Of America's 30-Year-Olds Are Making More Than Their Parents Did

The American Dream is slipping out of reach for a greater number of people, according to a new study, which shows the declining odds that children will earn more money than their parents.

 

In a study published on Thursday by Stanford economist Raj Chetty and a team of researchers, they found that only half of America's 30-year-olds are earning more money than their parents did at the same age.

 

That's a steep decline from the 1970s, when 92% of 30-year-olds were bringing home bigger paychecks than their parents.
