Officer Jeffrey Poole is facing four counts of rape,and official misconduct, two counts of sexual battery, one count of patronizing prostitution.....Can you say WTF!!! A MESS

Decommissioned police officer Jeffrey Poole surrendered himself at police headquarters this afternoon and was booked a short time ago on a 12-count grand jury indictment returned today charging him with sex crimes involving four women while on duty. Three of the women have prostitution histories.

Poole, 39, is facing four counts of rape, four counts of official misconduct, two counts of sexual battery, one count of patronizing prostitution and one count of attempting to patronize prostitution.

The investigation of Poole by Sex Crimes Detectives Rob Carrigan and Heather Baltz began at the end of April when a 27-year-old known prostitute reported that Poole, in uniform and on-duty as a South Precinct patrolman, stopped her as she walked the streets just south of downtown. She said Poole patted her down to the point of fondling her, and that he appeared to be making verbal propositions. She said she rejected his advances.

Detective Baltz subsequently located and interviewed three additional women who alleged that Poole had sexual contact with them in 2009 when he was an on-duty uniformed patrolman in the East Precinct.

*A 20-year-old woman reported that Poole arrested her on an outstanding warrant in April 2009, drove her to a secluded area, and began to fondle her under the guise of a search. She said she told Poole to just take her to jail, which Poole did, but not before allegedly giving her his phone number and an offer for a ride home when she was released.

*A 30-year-old woman who frequented Dickerson Pike reported that in late 2009, Poole approached her for sex. She said that Poole drove her in his police car to an abandoned lot and paid her for consensual acts.

*A 35-year-old woman reported that in December 2009, Poole came to her Dickerson Pike motel room on-duty, in uniform, and raped her.

“This is a very serious criminal matter highlighted by a betrayal of the trust conveyed to Poole by this police department and the citizens we serve,” Chief Steve Anderson said. “The conduct alleged here is absolutely intolerable and is not a reflection of the good work being done every day by our 1,800 officers and professional support staff members.”

Poole graduated from the police academy in March 2008. He worked in the East Precinct from July 2008 until January of this year, when he transferred to the South Precinct.

Poole was decommissioned and ordered to stay away from police department facilities on May 18th based on the Sex Crimes Unit’s investigation to that point.

Poole’s bond has been set at $200,000 by Criminal Court Judge Mark Fishburn. He will be arraigned in the near future.
