New York City's Board of Health overwhelmingly passed Michael Bloomberg's proposed ban on large sodas and other sugary drinks!  New York City's Board of Health overwhelmingly passed Michael Bloomberg's proposed ban on large sodas and other sugary drinks today—a result that surprised exactly no one, given that Bloomberg appointed the entire board, the Wall Street Journal reports. Before the vote, Bloomberg's administration delivered a 20-minute presentation downplaying and refuting criticisms of the ban. The result? It passed 8-0, with one abstention.

"It's hard to do—there are a lot of unhappy people," one board member said, but added that she hoped this became "the new norm."
