Nelly doesn’t want to be put in a box.

After reports surfaced he was planning to go country with his upcoming EP, the St. Louis rapper felt then need to clarify his upcoming plans. He says, “It got kinda twisted…It’s not actually country, so to speak. I love country music. I respect country music so much that I would never think that I can sit down and just as easily do a country album.”

His actual plans are for a project that crosses “all boundaries” and includes “all genres.” He explains, “That is something I kinda kicked around as far as the EP, coming up with different songs and different music in a field that I think may appeal to more of a pop-country, pop-R&B, hip-hop, country hip-hop type of vibe." (Rolling Stone)
