MUTILATED BODIES: 17 Dead Found in Central Mexico

Mexico's Independence Day was marred Sunday by the discovery of 17 dismembered bodies found on a farm in central Mexico.

The identities of the dead men weren't revealed, but authorities said they were killed somewhere else and dumped where they were found, naked, mutilated and stacked with chains around their necks.

Authorities didn't say who they thought was behind the murders, but the bodies were found in what is considered a cartel battleground where the country's warring gangs often leave behind dead bodies as a way to scare their rivals away from a disputed territory.
