Monique could have been Cookie?

Could the role of Cookie on Empire originally have been written for Mo'Nique? Recent comments made by the Precious star suggest she lost the role to Taraji P. Henson, after director Lee Daniels blackballed Mo. 

Daniels allegedly went as far as to send the comic turned actress a script for the hit drama series. She says after playing phone-tag with the director, she was told that Fox execs had deemed her "difficult to work with." She believes her reputation stems from an alleged failure to honor promotional agreements for the film Precious back in 2009, when Mo'Nique made it known she expected to be paid if flying out to the Cannes Film Festival.

She recently took to Twitter to clarify her position: "What you do when someone is trying to bully you. Play the game, or take a stand. I love yall for real." (Bossip)
