MARCH MADNESS: Upsets and Controversial Call Highlight Tournament Opening

March Madness is in full effect with a number of upsets and a controversial call.

Some highlights include number-14 seed Georgia State's upset over number-three seed Baylor. Georgia State pulled it off with a 13-0 run in the last three minutes, capped by a 30-foot jumper to take the game 57-56.

In another nail-biter, UAB knocked off Iowa State, 60-59 with two key late-game free throws.

In another stunner, NC State beat LSU 66-65 in what was either an incredible comeback or collapse, depending on which side of the court you were on. LSU went ice cold in the final 10 minutes, going 0-for-12 and squandering their 14-point half-time lead.

The day's most controversial call helped UCLA upset SMU 60-59. With 13 seconds left, a three-pointer by UCLA's Bryce Alford was blocked near the rim by SMU's Yanick Moreira, but the block was ruled goal-tending, so UCLA took the win.

Other close games included Ohio State's 75-72 overtime win over VCU and North Carolina's 67-65 win over Harvard. (CBS Sports)
