A woman was walking back to her car around 8:30 p.m. last night, when a gunman approached her. Metro police said he demanded her keys and other belongings before fleeing with four other suspects in her vehicle.
Later in the evening, police pulled over a vehicle that matched the description of the victim’s car. At some point, the suspects drove by in the stolen car and drove away when they saw officers.
A 16-year-old was seen fleeing the vehicle, but police were able to track him down and detain him. His identity was not released.
It was not known if he was involved in the original crime. At this point, police said he's not considered to be a suspect.
The stolen car was later found several hours later wrecked near Interstate 40 West and Fesslers Lane.
Police said a woman was driving the car when it crashed as she was trying to get off the interstate shortly before 1:30 a.m.
After the crash, she ran off from the scene. Authorities brought out K9 officers to see if they could track her down but were unable to find her.
Specific details of the suspects were not yet available, but police said they’re looking for three males and two females, who could be teenagers.
