Lil Wayne is moving his $51 million breach-of-contract lawsuit against Cash Money Records down South.
Yesterday in Manhattan Federal Court, Weezy’s lawyer notified the court that the case was “voluntarily dismissed, without prejudice” as part of a deal to have the suit heard in New Orleans rather than New York.
The legal issues started over Tha Carter V, which was to be released several months ago. The album is still in limbo. In an attempt to get out of his deal, Wayne claimed that Birdman broke his contract by withholding millions of dollars he was owed. He also asked for a portion of the revenue from other Young Money artists, including Nicki Minaj and Drake. (Bossip)
Quickies:
Remember when musicians just made music, not spent all their time in courthouses and jails?
This is like a war of the titans, with a lot of money -- and the label's future -- at stake.
There's no chance Lil Wayne is going to win this, and if he loses it's gonna really cost him.
