LIL WAYNE: I Quit…Working for Birdman

Lil Wayne visited FS1's Skip Bayless Tuesday morning to address the rumors he plans to walk away from music for good.

Weezy was asked about his tweets, where wrote, “I am now defenseless and mentally defeated. I leave gracefully and thankful. I love my fans but I’m done.” This morning, he explained, “[That] was a tweet of an argument over what’s going on… I was at my tipping point.”

Despite the cryptic tweets, Wayne isn’t necessarily calling it quits -- he just wants off of Birdman’s Cash Money label. "This is business. I have a family. I have kids. I have a mother. We have bills. Once the business is right, then the business is right.”

That said, even if things get squared away, Weezy apparently has no interest in working with Birdman in the future.

Points:

  • Wayne also said it meant a lot to him to hear artists he doesn’t even know, like Kendrick Lamar, begging him not to retire.
  • All this bad press is costing Birdman.
  • He's given us more than enough music over the years, but we'd still be sad to see Weezy go.
  • If you worked for somebody for years without getting paid, you'd probably be pretty pissed too.
  • Will Baby decide to give Wayne some hush money to stop talking about all of their issues? Or will he find other ways to deal with the situation?
