Lil Tink Tink Found Guilty of Culpable Homicide

Olympic runner Oscar Pistorius was found guilty Friday in a South African courtroom of culpable homicide -- the U.S. equivalent of manslaughter -- in connection with the Valentine’s Day 2013 shooting death of his 29-year-old girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

Steenkamp was shot and killed on February 14 2013. Pistorius, the athlete known as "Blade Runner" for his prosthetic legs, had argued that the shooting was an accident and that he mistook Steenkamp for an intruder.

Culpable homicide carries a sentence of up to 15 years in prison, but can be significantly less.

South African Judge Thokozile Masipa also found Pistorius guilty on one count of discharging a gun in a public area. She acquitted him on two other gun related charges.

On Thursday, Judge Masipa found Pistorius did not intentionally kill his girlfriend.

The trial has spanned five months, prolonged by several interruptions including a month-long break so the paralympian sprinter could be examined by mental health experts.
