One of Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo collaborators has found himself in the unique position of having to defend ‘Ye against backlash from God-fearing music fans.
Gospel music icon Kirk Franklin defended his fellow collaborator against detractors who feel he’s “not Christian enough.” Franklin took to Instagram and wrote, “Kanye is not me. I am not him. He is my brother I am proud to do life with…Before one song was released, I was crucified because my brother asked me to take a picture…To a lot of my Christian family, I am sorry he’s not good enough, Christian enough, or running at your pace… and as I read some of your comments, neither am I. That won’t stop me from running. Pray we win.”
Franklin joined Kanye, Chance the Rapper, The-Dream, Kelly Price and a gospel choir in a performance of "Ultralight Beam" for The Life of Pablo on Saturday Night Live.
