Jill Scott and Hidden Beach...Still No Love!

More than a year has passed since Hidden Beach Recordings sued its first signed artistJill Scott, who it accused in a 2010 lawsuit of unceremoniously dumping the label after a nearly 10-year relationship.  Jill countersued the claim, and in the end, she moved on to Warner Bros., and Hidden Beach was given the OK to release some of her previously unreleased material.  While the legal matters have been settled though, Jill still seems to feel the sting of the split.  "anybody else notice my name &or face is attached to EVERYTHING hidden beach records does?," Jill remarked on Twitter on Saturday, before trailing off and retweeting messages from her fans, who chimed in on the matter.  "Jill Scott = $$$ in the bank!! They're gonna use you & yours until the well runs dry," said one user.  "hidden beach is workin' your years with them. I guess they are acting like you never left," added another.

Maybe Jill has a reason to be feeling a little used.  Last year, Hidden Beach released the compilation Hidden Beach Presents: The Original Jill Scott From The Vault, Vol. 1, just months after she issued her chart-topping disc, The Light of the Sun, with Warner Bros.  And earlier this year Hidden Beach used a track from its Jill release -- her cover of Bill Withers' "Lovely Day" -- to kick off its Have a Lovely Day campaign.  Hidden Beach released a special video for the song, sans Jill, of course, and uses it as the centerpiece of the label's special effort to encourage random acts of kindness.

Later, Jill seemed to put things into perspective, writing, "I have learned, moved on and ready for what's next. Today it's fun with the family. Have a great Saturday Love Village."
