NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The Business and Finance Committee of the Tennessee Board of Regents voted to recommend raising tuition at colleges and universities between 5 and 11.4 percent.

The committee voted Tuesday on the staff recommendation, and the increases will be considered by the full board on June 25.

Tuition at the five regional universities would increase by 5.2 percent for students taking 12 hours, 7.8 percent for those taking 15 hours and 10.2 percent for those taking 18 hours.

At the University of Memphis, tuition would increase 5 percent for students taking 12 hours, 7.6 percent for those taking 15 hours and 10.2 percent for those taking 18 hours.

Community college would increase 6.3 percent for students taking 12 hours, 8.9 percent for 15 hours and 11.4 percent for 18 hours.

Tennessee Technology Center tuition would increase by 15.3 percent per trimester.
