IDRIS ELBA: “Too Street” to Be James Bond?

Idris Elba is “too street” to play James Bond, according to the novelist behind the latest book about the British spy.

Anthony Horowitz claims “it’s not a color issue.” He admits, “Idris Elba is a terrific actor” but says he can “think of other black actors who would do it better.” He explains his issue, “For me, Idris Elba is a bit too rough to play the part. I think he is probably a bit too ‘street’ for Bond. Is it a question of being suave? Yeah.”

Horowitz has since apologized for his remarks, saying “I’m really sorry my comments about Idris Elba have caused offense. That wasn’t my intention." (Daily Mail)
