Police in Georgia have arrested a 24-year-old father who left his 15-month-old twin daughters in a hot SUV parked outside his apartment Thursday afternoon.

Neighbors spotted the toddlers inside the car and called police. Temperatures outside were in the 90s and by the time police arrived, neighbors had already gotten them out of the vehicle and were trying to cool them off in an inflatable kiddie pool. The children were rushed to the hospital where they both died. Their father, Asa North, was arrested and charged with manslaughter and reckless conduct. It's not known what he was doing or where he was while the girls were left in the vehicle. So far in 2016, there have been 26 cases of children dying in hot cars. (Atlanta Journal Constitution)
