Guy Stuff: An $800 Haircut/No More XXX Sites at Starbucks!!

GUY STUFF:

SOME GUYS SPENDING $800 FOR A HAIRCUT

According to a new report in The New York Times, some guys in New York City are spending $800 for their haircuts.

800 bucks!

The stylists who are charging this kind of money say their customers are often technology entrepreneurs.

In other words … Guys with money to burn.

But even if you had more money than you knew what to do with, could you seriously pay $800 for a haircut? (The New York Times)

Talk About It:

Weird … because men can pretty much get away with cutting their own hair if they really needed to. You know … for free?

Real quick … How much do you spend for haircuts?

YOU ARE WHAT YOUR GRANDFATHER ATE

According to a new study, your grandfathers’ eating habits affect your eating habits.

Researchers found that if a grandfather enjoyed unhealthy foods, it’s probably harder for you to turn down those foods.

It’s as if tastes in food are transmitted through the generations to grandsons – even if fathers eat well.

So if you’re struggling with your weight, do your best to get that under control. But also feel free to blame grandpa. (New Scientist)

ROBOTS WILL BE SELLING INSURANCE

A major life insurance company in Japan will be putting robots to work, using them to wait on customers at its offices and sending them out on sales calls.

That’s right. The robots will be selling life insurance.

The Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company has plans to put 100 “Pepper” robots in the field to help explain insurance products and services – as well as accompany sales people on their rounds. (The Japan News)

Talk About It:

Do you really think – honestly – that a robot could never take your job? What do you do and why don’t you think a robot could be programmed to do it?

STARBUCKS WON’T LET YOU WATCH PORN ANYMORE

About a week ago, McDonald’s announced that they would be filtering porn out of their free WiFi service.

Well, Starbucks is now doing the same thing.

The company announced that it will no longer allow customers to access naughty websites while connected to its free Wi-Fi. (Business Insider)

Talk About It:

Of course it’s creepy that someone would order a $4 Frappuccino and then sit in public watching grunty action … but … it also doesn’t feel right that Starbucks or McDonald’s can tell you what to visit on the Internet and what not to visit.

Then again… It’s amazing that anyone has been allowed to watch porn in there this long. Seems like they should have shut it down long ago.
