Gucci Mane has penned a letter to his fans while behind bars.
The Atlanta rapper's career and accomplishments are often overshadowed by negative headlines and his multiple run-ins with the law. Gucci writes in his letter that it's time he's learned his lesson and vowed to give up drugs and alcohol and return to prayer.
MTV published the letter in which the 34-year-old Brick Squad leader shared his plans. "I am planning to take my music to a higher level and use the attention and influence to sell movies, books, clothing and be a living testimony to all people showing that you can start from humble beginnings and transcend to something greater."
Gucci says "even though I’m physically incarcerated but spiritually and mentally I’m free as ever. I know that by me stayin sober, praying and fasting and stepping up to the plate to the father, and man I am destined to be I will impact my family and the entire universe for the better."
Gucci is serving time for weapons chargers and is due to come home in 2016.
