Ohio's open carry law will make securing the Republican National Convention in Cleveland more difficult, at least according to the Cleveland Police Patrolmen's Association. In the wake of the deadly police shootings in Dallas and Baton Rouge, the union has asked Governor John Kasich to declare an emergency and suspend the right to carry firearms openly in the area around the Quicken Loans Arena during the convention. Union head Steve Loomis says, "Somebody's got to do something. What we have now is completely irresponsible." However, Kasich's office says he has no legal authority to suspend state laws or Second Amendment rights. And Police Chief Calvin Williamssays cops will not impede on those rights. The convention kicks off today. (USA Today)
