If you ask Google Maps to give you directions to the “[N-Word] House,” you may find yourself in front of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
An error in Google Maps is causing the White House to pop up in search results when users of the app type in the racial epithet. It’s unknown at this time how or why the navigation program has started making this link, though a Google spokesperson says they “apologize for any offense this may have caused” and that “teams are working to fix [the] issue quickly.”
For those playing along at home, it's been noted that simply typing the slur into the search engine doesn’t always bring up the same results, as those results can vary depending on your location. (Huffington Post)
Say What:
Do you think this was a sick joke by a programmer, a hacker or something else entirely?
Sometimes Google results become tied to commonly linked search terms.
The White House only gets 4.2 stars according to Google Maps reviews.
