Eyes WIDE Open: Political Thought of the Day: Black and Hispanic businesses NOT getting share of Stimulus Money...Surprise!

Not everyone is praising the new stimulus package. Black and Latino businesses are receiving a disproportionately small number of federal stimulus contracts, and demanding that the Obama administration closely monitor who receives government-financed work. While the two groups own more than 11 percent of all businesses, they have both received a little more than one percent of 46 billion dollars in federal stimulus contracts recorded in U-S government data, according to census figures. The Transportation Equity Network and other minority advocates are calling for complete information on all contracts and jobs financed by the stimulus
