EBOLA: Despite Public Outcry, Patient's Dog Has Been Euthanized

Health officials in Spain have euthanized the pet dog belonging to a medical worker who is infected with the Ebola virus. 

The mixed-breed dog, named Excalibur, was put down today despite a huge public outcry and a plea by his owner Teresa Romero Ramos. Officials got a police escort into the building where the dog was living because animal rights activists were trying to block their entry. They had to physically remove protesters as they carried the dog into an ambulance. 

Health officials were afraid that the dog could have been carrying the Ebola virus and could possibly pass it to humans. (ABC News)
