DRUNK DRIVER: Arrested After Periscoping Herself in the Act in Florida

It's bad enough to drive drunk, but a Florida woman took things even further by broadcasting herself doing the dirty deed live on Periscope for the world --and police to see.

Whitney Beall, a 23-year-old, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence in the incident Saturday night that miraculously didn't cause any injuries, but alarmed those who caught the act on Periscope, the live-video streaming app created by Twitter.

The Lakeland Police Department said in a statement, "As a result of the video being streamed worldwide, numerous text messages were sent to the driver asking her to stop driving before she killed someone or herself."

In the effort to take down Beall, a cop had to download Periscope on a personal smart phone, since the app isn't allowed on official police phones. Although the stream was choppy, police were able to get enough information to find Beall, who was driving on a flat tire.

As officers pulled her over, the Toyota Corolla she was driving "abruptly" slammed into a curb. Beall flunked field sobriety tests and wouldn't take a breathalyzer and cops said she "appeared to be disoriented" and was slurring her words." (The Washington Post)

Talk About It:

You have to be pretty stupid to Periscope yourself doing something illegal.

If this situation ended differently, Beall could have periscoped her death -- and someone else's.
