The New York Times reported Monday that although Trump played football, tennis and squash and "his medical history was unblemished," he received a 1-Y medical deferment, instead of doing to Vietnam.
The other four times Trump got out of getting drafted were due to education.
In an interview with The New York Times, Trump said the bone spurs were "temporary" and a "minor" situation that didn't have a long-term impact. Trump said, "I had a doctor that gave me a letter -- a very strong letter on the heels."
When the newspaper requested a copy of the letter, Trump said he would have to search for it. His spokeswoman didn't respond to repeated requests for a copy of the letter. (The New York Times)
