Focused On Urban Issues, Nightlife, & Kenny Smoov
A group of African-American media organizations, including BET, The Root, TheGrio and Huffington Post's BlackVoices, have launched a campaign called #InTheBlack to highlight African-American consumer power.
The campaign points out that even though African-American buying power is projected to reach $1.2 trillion by 2015, many advertisers still overlook the African-American market. The group also notes that although African-Americans make up only 12 percent of the U.S. population, they consistently outspend all ethnic groups in several key categories, including electronics.
