There’s only one person standing between Meek Mill and freedom, and she’s not budging.
Although a higher court noted that Judge Genece Brinkley was welcome to recuse herself from the trial, she will apparently pass on that option. Brinkley tells TMZ that she's been giving Meek a fair shot this whole time and doesn’t plan to switch up anytime soon.
The judge’s own lawyer, A. Charles Peruto Junior, says that Brinkley doesn’t see Meek's release ahead of the June hearing as challenging her sentence. Though a crooked cop at the center of Meek’s decade-old drug and weapons conviction was found to have tainted testimony, Brinkley reportedly thinks she can find good cops who will back the bad apple up.
Meek’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina, calls Brinkley “a little sad and a little delusional” for not taking the Supreme Court’s hint to recuse herself.
