A Cheatham County man charged with killing three people in March has pleaded guilty to the crimes.
According to a report in The Ashland City Times, Michael Hood pleaded guilty on Monday and was sentenced to three consecutive life sentences for fatally shooting his sister, 44-year-old Susan Hood Binkley, her ex-husband, 42-year-old Dale Binkley, and the couple's 13-year-old son, Jackson Binkley.
Family members have said that Hood is mentally ill and had been staying at the family's Meadowbrook Road home when the murders occurred on March 27.
The family requested that Hood receive the consecutive life sentences instead of the death penalty.
"The family requested that he be given three consecutive life sentences instead of the death penalty, and we agreed to that," Assistant District Attorney Bob Wilson said.
