Chris Brown is currently under investigation by the Las Vegas police after a woman accused the singer of punching her in the face after attempting to take his picture and stealing her phone.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to a call on Saturday morning at the Palms Casino Resort. The police took a statement from a woman who, according to their report, “appeared to have minor injuries sustained as a result of a battery.”

People reports:

According to the police, the victim, who was attending a party in a hotel room, got into an argument with Brown when she tried to take a photo of him with her cell phone. “The victim was alleged to have been battered by Brown, who at the same time took her cell phone,” the [police] statement reads. “A verbal altercation took place as the victim was escorted out of the room by private security and into the hallway.”

The victim was removed from the hotel’s property and later returned to report the attack to the police. The police have named Brown the only suspect and are currently investigating.

Brown, however, denies any wrongdoing. In a statement to People, his spokesperson called the allegations “unequivocally untrue,” and claim that the woman was escorted out the hotel because of her “wild behavior.” The statement continued:

“Her claim that she had her phone in her possession inside the after party and was able to take a photo causing an altercation with Chris Brown is a complete fabrication. This seems like a clear case of retaliation for her bruised ego.”

In 2009, Brown was arrested and charged with two counts of felony assault against his then-girlfriend, Rihanna. His five-year probation for that crime ended in March of 2015.
