Big Boi has signed a solo deal with Def Jam Records. The OutKast member Tweeted last week, "The ink is on the paper! Breaking news! It's official!"

The release of Big Boi's new solo effort, Sir Lucious Leftfoot: The Son of Chico Dusty, was originally set for today but has been pushed back to May.

Big Boi's signing will mark a reunion with Def Jam head Antonio "L-A" Reid -- who signed Big Boi and his Outkast partner Andre "3000" Benjamin to LaFace for their first album, 1994's Southern Playalistic Cadillac Muzik

That's good for Big Boi...Hip Hop desperately needs intelligent music back in the mainstream. Jay Z can only do so much. I'm looking forward to it.

PS ...Keep it complex, that's the problem now, everybody wants to dumb everything down. Who benefits from that?
