Due to concerns for public safety with the protests going on in Baltimore, on Wednesday afternoon the Orioles and White Sox played a game that was closed to fans for the first time in Major League Baseball history. The O's didn't let the lack of a crowd slow them down. They crushed the Sox 8-2.
The game came after two games were postponed due to the civil unrest in wake of the funeral of Freddie Gray, a black man who died of spinal cord injuries he suffered while in police custody.
Although there were no fans inside the stadium, a group of diehard fans watched the game from outside the gates on Camden Street and on hotel balconies. There was also a still a PA announcer and the Orioles' traditional seventh-inning stretch song, John Denver's "Thank God I'm a Country Boy" was played as usual. (MLB.com)
