Most people would have never thought that being fluent in Ebonics, could help them get a job -- particularly with the government. The Smoking Gun, has found documents from the Department of Justices' Atlanta division asking for nine "Ebonics experts" to assist the DEA in monitoring, transcribing and translating recorded conversations in drug trade investigations.

They describe Ebonics as a "nonstandard variant of English spoken largely by African-Americans." Yes, you have to know when to leave off the final consonant in some words like "past" (pas') and "hand" (han').
