A Tribe Called Quest's Phife Dawg Dead at 45

Malik Taylor, the rapper known as Phife Dawg whose nimble, clever rhymes helped launch A Tribe Called Quest to both commercial and critical success, died today at the age of 45. The rapper's deathhas been confirmed, although an official statement has yet to be released.

While the cause of death has yet to be announced, Taylor had had health issues for years, undergoing a kidney transplant in 2008 to deal with a longtime battle with diabetes.
