Texas Wal-Mart Cashier Stole $240,000 By Faking Returns Over The Past Two Years

A now former employee of a Wal-Mart in Decatur, Texas, was arrested in conjunction with the theft of more than $240,000 over the span of the past two years.

Nacina Walker, who had worked for Wal-Mart since 1982, ran her embezzlement scheme by creating elaborate fraudulent return transactions, which allowed her to pocket cash from the register that she manned.

    Walker, 50, was arrested last week and charged with theft of property of more than $200,000. Police said between January 2013 and October 2014, Walker would create fake returns while working at Walmart, then would pocket the refunds.

    In total, police believe she stole nearly $240,000

And the thing is, judging from her mugshot, she totally looks like someone who would A) hold down a job at Wal-Mart for the past thirty-some years, and B) definitely be up to something while she was doing it.

Reports indicate that when Walker first realized how easy it was to manipulate Wal-Mart’s register system to function as her personal bank, she started out by taking small increments of cash here and there. However, her greed grew to the point where she was eventually walking away with more than $8,000 a day, and ended up being her eventual downfall.

She said it was as if she couldn’t stop and it “snowballed,” the warrant said.

    But the retail giant did catch on, fired her, and passed the case to police. A spokesman at the Walmart corporate office in Arkansas said he could not say where this case measures up as far as the most money an employee has been accused of embezzling.

Walker claims she used the money to help support her husband’s business, and aid with the care of her elderly parents and their medical bills.

Apparently, she has a new job for the time being after posting a $30,000 bond, and that’s pretty much the most illogical thing I’ve ever heard. But, if convicted, she’s looking at anywhere between five to 99 years in prison for first degree felony.
