Youth Services detectives are charging three teenagers in this afternoon’s shooting of an innocent bystander, a 17-year-old student who was on a school bus parked outside Pearl Cohn High on Eden Street near 26th Avenue North.

Marquise Northcutt, 20, and his brother Deandre Northcutt, 18, and their half- brother Teddarrius Perry, 19, are each being charged with aggravated assault and felony reckless endangerment.  During an interview, Deandre told detectives that he and his brothers went to Pearl Cohn to visit friends after dismissal, when they recognized Radarious Clay, 18, who they considered to be a gang rival.  A physical fight broke out.  Deandre admitted he fired a gun toward Clay, striking the girl in the arm.  She was not the intended target.  The victim was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she was treated and released.  According to Metro Nashville Schools officials, there were eight other students on the bus at the time of the shooting.  No one else was injured.

Marquise Northcutt has two previous drug possession convictions and arrests for aggravated burglary and theft.  None of the three suspects are current students at Pearl Cohn High School.

Outstanding response by North Precinct Flex, Patrol and School Resource officers led to the apprehension of all three suspects, and the recovery of two handguns, a short time after the shooting.  Two other persons were interviewed and released.

Gang Unit detectives responded to the scene and are assisting in the ongoing investigation.  Additional charges are possible.
