Although today (Thursday) was supposed to be her official release date after six years in the pen, Remy Ma is still behind bars.
Remy was supposed to be released this morning (Thursday) between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m., but New York State parole officials have confirmed that she's still in custody. According to REVOLT, the Bronx rapstress was involved in a disciplinary incident on July 21st and wound up spending the past week in solitary confinement. The former Terror Squad rapper now has to wait until the incident has been resolved. There is no set timetable for the process and no updated release date issued.
Reports say the issue was a "third party call." Remy is allowed to call only a list of 15 numbers, but last week she phoned into Power 105's Angie Martinez in New York. Prison officials haven't said if that call is the one that got her in trouble, but it's a good bet a radio station isn't on Remy's approved list.
Remy Ma was sentenced to eight years in prison in May 2008 for shooting Makeda Barnes-Joseph in the abdomen over a missing $3000. She'd pared down her sentence to six years via good behavior -- up till now.
